Developmental Play Group
For our preschool learners, our developmental play group offers an opportunity to develop social, communication, and play skills in a supportive and welcoming environment. Play group includes gross motor play, sensory and art experiences, and small group activities. Children participate at their own pace, and are invited to explore the environment in a way that is comfortable for them.
Facilitators focus on developing social reciprocity and motivation, initiation and imitation while building functional social communication skills. These skills form the foundation of a social skills repertoire that will allow the child to form future relationships that are meaningful to them.
Elementary Social Skills Group
Our elementary school aged learners are served in groups using a behavioral skills training (BST) approach which consists of instruction, modeling, rehearsal, and feedback.
Participants engage in activities specifically designed and selected to target specific skills necessary to making and maintaining friendships. These skills include, but are not limited to: conversation, emotional regulation, cooperation and teamwork, perspective taking, non-verbal communication, and self-advocacy.
